Maloof-Inspired Bench

Co-sponsored by North Bennet Street School

Sam Maloof was an icon of 20th century artistry, making furniture known for its clean yet fluid lines. Spend a summer week making a Maloof–inspired one–person bench with a sculpted seat. As you continue to increase your comfort with basic tools, also learn to make plugged tenon joints, sculpt with rasp and spokeshave, and sharpen hand tools. Conclude with an oil–wax finish.
