Painting: Beyond Basics

You've done some painting and want to do more. Develop your skills with color, form, composition and expression – and your comfort with paint. Students may take this class once or continue for multiple semesters, building skills and confidence over time.

Basic (introductory, simple) painting experience is required.

Materials

Please bring to class:

  • Canvas pad, canvas and/or other paint surfaces, at least two per class
  • Acrylic paints:

       ESSENTIAL COLORS:
       • alizarin crimson
       • ultramarine blue
       • yellow ochre
       • white
       • dioxanine purple
       • sap green
       • cadmium orange

       ADDITIONAL/OPTIONAL COLORS:
       • cadmium red medium
       • cobalt blue
       • cadmium yellow

  • Brushes of your choice
  • Palette or palette paper
  • Pencil and sketchbook
  • Rags and/or paper towels
  • Glass container for water
