3-D Assemblage & Painting 1F19
Use paint, scrap materials and found objects in unlikely combinations to create unexpected and inquisitive 3-dimensional work. Develop your own narrative, combining the painterly aspect of your artistic style with the physicality of objects that speak to you. Class includes time looking at images from art history and contemporary art contexts. Limit 10 students
John Murray's paintings are high relief combinations of sculpture and Abstract Expressionism, meshed in the power of texture and the motion of brushstrokes. Somehow, his paintings are a harmony of subtle simplicity disguised by a frenzy of colors and buzzing energy. For more than 40 years he has explored his visual aesthetic through painting, printmaking and assemblage. He has published three poetry chapbooks and two graphic chapter books. He has been teaching for more than 30 years.
John studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and exhibits throughout the Northeast.
