Join in for this 3-session class designed to get you started with acrylic painting.

For those new to painting, learn what makes a painting "good."  Explore composition, color, and value using still life as a subject.  Work on artistic subjects selected by the instructor with guidance and feedback.  Enjoy a relaxed and supportive atmosphere in which to grow your creativity.

Terry Boutelle

Terry Boutelle has been a painter for over 30 years, working in acrylic, watercolor, printmaking and mixed media. A member of the Jamaica Plain Artists Association, Cambridge Art Association and Fort Point Arts Community, she exhibits her work throughout New England. She has studied art at Boston College, School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Massachusetts College of Art & Design, wand holds an MFA from the MassArt program at Fine Arts Work Center.

two stretched canvases (e.g., 12x12, 9x12, or larger), or canvas board or panel

jar/plastic container(s) for water

palette

palette knife

Spray bottle

Acrylic paint: 2 oz. size for all colors, 5 0z. size for white. (Golden Heavy Body, Liquitex, or Blick)

Suggested colors:  Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red Light,  Cadmium Yellow Light, Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo Blue (green shade), Viridian, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Titanium White.
