CANCELED Shoemaking: Basic Ballet Flats 1M20
Design and construct a wearable pair of ballet-style flats. Measure your feet, alter the lasts, construct patterns, skive and cut leather, stitch and last the shoes. Gain an understanding of all the steps and components of shoemaking. Expect to leave with a pair of lovely flats and the skills to make more. Limit 8 students
Malika Green is an artist and designer based in Brooklyn, NY. Her passion is designing shoes. She aims to push the boundaries of what can be done with footwear, using traditional materials to make innovative designs. Shoes may be familiar, common objects, but she dreams of reshaping them into metaphors, shifting their identity and meaning.
Malika teaches footwear design classes while maintaining her studio practice. She holds an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art.
