Clone Your Clothes
Create a sewing pattern from an existing garment, and clone a garment you love. Learn how to properly trace your garment to create a pattern, and how to measure critical points on each garment for precise duplication. Understand the importance of grain line, pattern symbols and seam allowances when creating a pattern. Prerequisites: Basic Sewing I or II or equivalent experience, and experience working with patterns. Limit 8 students

Materials
- Standard Scissors (NOT Gingham or other fabric scissors)
- Awl
- Scotch tape
- 4H Pencils (2 to 3)
- Pencil Sharpener
- Dressmaker’s pencil (Blue)
- Thumbtacks
- Curved Ruler (Minimum 12”)
- Dressmakers/Quilter's Ruler (18”)
- Notcher or Single Hole Punch
- Class 66 bobbins (plastic; please bring at least 3)
- Dressmaker shears (best quality are Fiskars or Gingher)
- Paper scissors
- Assorted machine sewing needles
- Assorted hand sewing needles
- Common pins
- Pin cushion
- Seam ripper
- Dressmaker’s pencil or tailor’s chalk
- Tape measure 60”
- Contrasting thread for basting
- Thimble
- Needle threader
- Any required materials for garment:
- Fabric
- Matching thread
- Zippers
- Closures (buttons, hooks etc)
- Tracing Paper (Roll, wide as possible 36"+ recommended)
