Fundamentals of Hand Quilting
Quilts can be humble, comforting, beautiful and functional. Focusing on process and quality rather than production and quantity, this class will introduce you to traditional hand sewing techniques and the four fundamental stages of quilting—piecing, sandwiching, quilting and bias binding. Create your own simple grid-based design for a lap-sized quilt, with encouragement to incorporate upcycled woven fabrics from home. By the end of the week, you will have a finished or close-to-finished lap quilt, based on personal pace and design. Prerequisite: Basic Sewing, and/or comfortable threading a needle and sewing a running stitch. Limit 8 students
