Kids Studio: Drawing & Painting (Ages 9-12) 1M26

In this studio course, students will become familiar with the foundations of drawing and painting techniques paired with particular attention to figure drawing and art history. Students will walk away with awareness of shape, line, composition, proportion drawing, art history context, and handling of drawing and painting materials. Students are guided in demonstrations on the drawing techniques of stippling, cross hatching, hatching, and scribbling. By the end of the session, students will know how to use acrylic, tempera, and watercolor through two major projects.
Students in this class will become familiar with mixed media materials, how these materials interact with various types of paper, cardboard, and canvas. This is a collaboration heavy class, participants are often working on the same piece and sharing materials. We practice mindfulness and engage in side projects and play when not working on our main projects.
