Mixed-Media Painting ***NEW***


Combine decorative papers, fabric, yarn, text, stencils and found objects on a two-dimensional surface of your choice, whether wood panel, canvas, cardboard or paper. Add drawing, painting, collage, decoupage, image transfer or stamping to finish your work. Limit 8 students

This class meets at the Eliot School Annex, 253 Amory St., Jamaica Plain.

Bring to every class:[1]

·       Surface to work on, such as:  heavy paper, canvas paper, canvas board, stretched canvas, wood panel, or drawing pad (bristol)

·       Your choice:  acrylic, watercolor, pastel, markers, etc.

·       Glue gun

·       Sizzors

·       Spray bottle

·       Palette knife (or knives)

·       Glue:  Gel medium (recommended) or Modge Podge

·       Paint brushes

·       Rubber, vinyl, or nitrile gloves

·       Jar for water

·       Paper towels or rags for cleaning

·       Pencil, eraser, pencil sharpener


Materials for first class

·       Items to collage with:

Decorative papers[2], newpaper or magazeine clippings, photographs, found and vintage papers

Images on paper for image transfer:  laser-copied/printed works best, but it will work with inkjet or even magazine images.  If you want to transfer text, make a reverse copy.


Other materials we will experiment with (you’ll have an opportunity to see a demo and/or try the material yourself before purchasing it)
