Transform your garden with your very own handcrafted mosaic stepping stones! In this exciting hands-on class, you'll dive into the vibrant world of exterior tiles, learning to design, cut, and assemble your own mosaic masterpieces.
Unleash your inner artist as you discover how to sketch captivating designs and choose the perfect palette of colorful tiles. You'll gain practical skills using specialized tools like nippers, hammers, and files to precisely shape your tiles. Then, you'll master the art of working with thin-set mortar to bring your vision to life and learn to apply concrete sealer to protect your beautiful creations for years to come.
By the end of this class, you'll have an understanding of mosaic design principles, a working knowledge of essential concrete tools, and the confidence to embark on future mosaic projects. Each student will complete three 12"x12" paving stones.

Lygia Angel
My name is Lygia Angel I have a degree in art education. My experience in teaching art over the last thirty years has been teaching art to a diverse array of populations. I have taught from early childhood, elementary, adolescent, adults and elderly populations. I teach people with all abilities and disabilities in inclusive settings. I am a specialist in working with people with memory impairment through the arts.
In my education I have a specialty in hand built sculptural ceramics. I have won several awards for my work. Clay is an exciting medium to work with. For me it is like working with natural elements from nature ; the earth. Anyone can learn how to work with clay it’s a forgiving, pliable, moldable and exciting.
I also teach knitting classes to all ages. Knitting is a wonderful skill to have. I find it meditative. Knitting is great for focus and dexterity. And working with yarns, fibers, and the different colors is creative and fulfilling.
Students should bring:
- Thick rubber gloves
- Vinyl work gloves
- Face mask
All other materials (paving stones, mortar, tiles, tools) are provided in class.
