Painting Studio

 

Take a week for sustained creative exploration, including abstract compositions, portrait, landscape and the figure. Practice composition and design, perspective, color and shading. Work large or small, as you wish, as you receive suggestions from the instructor and your peers through group critiques and exercises. This class meets at the Eliot School Annex, 253 Amory St., Jamaica Plain. Limit 8 students

  • Charcoal
  • Kneaded eraser
  • Painting surfaces (canvas, panels, or canvas board, etc.)
  • Paint - Sennelier, Golden Heavy Body, or Liquitex. 2 oz. size for all colors, except Titanium White get 5 oz. size (or medium of your choice)
  • Brushes of choice
  • Water containers
  • Palette
  • Paper towels/rags
  • Palette knife
  • Spray bottle
  • Optional: disposable gloves, viewfinder, mediums

  • Alizarin Crimson
  • Cadmium Red Light
  • Cadmium Orange
  • Cadmium Yellow Light
  • Cerulean Blue
  • Ultramarine Blue
  • Hunters Green or Olive Green
  • Viridian
  • Yellow Ochre

  • Titanium White
  • Other colors (e.g. Quinacridone Magenta, Teal, light or medium Violet, Green Gold)
