Description: 
This second session with Boston Children’s Hospital will focus on integrating social-emotional learning and support for healthy behavior in the art classroom. Discuss Boston Public Schools’ supports and learn how to best utilize resources that may be available in your schools. Bring questions and examples. We will have ample time to discuss and reflect on tiered supports and current, real-life experiences in the classroom. Light dinner will be served. Please submit any dietary restrictions upon registration. Registration closes Thursday, December 13 at 5pm.

Presenter information:

Karen Capraro, M.Ed., MSW, LICSW, is a licensed clinical social worker and Project Coordinator for Preventive Initiatives and the Break Free from Depression Program (BFFD) in the Neighborhood Partnerships Program at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCHNP). She develops prevention programs for schools and facilitates training for educators and students on mental health awareness. Karen has worked in in-patient psychiatry, outpatient clinics and school counseling. She also has a private practice working with adolescents and their families.

Kate Rossi, MSW, LICSW, is a licensed clinical social worker in the Neighborhood Partnerships Program at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCHNP). She serves as a consultant on the Training and Access Project, where she provides support, consultation and professional development to Boston Public Schools and their staff. Kate collaborates with schools in implementing social- emotional learning supports and systems. She previously worked as a social worker in Boston Public Schools, where she provided individual counseling, led the Student Support Team and managed crisis response.


Workshop Series Information:
Our professional development workshops this year focus on social, emotional and behavioral health and wellbeing – in teachers, in students, through art making. These workshops are open to teachers, teaching artists, parents and other interested adults. You may attend all three or choose among them:

Teachers are eligible to receive 10 PD Points after completion of the entire 3-part series plus submission of a completed lesson plan. Ask us for details.
