Three-Dimensional Embroidery

Create sculptural needlework on a small scale, using basic embroidery stitches, appliqué and fiber collage. With a piece of fabric as an artist’s canvas, create dimensionality using traditional and structural appliqué techniques. Discuss techniques for folding and sculpting fabric, shaping and stuffing, and creating textural elements with stitches. Bring meaningful text, paper pages and found fibers or textiles to class to include in your work.
