Watercolor Workshop 1S20 CANCELED

Learn how to use color mixing as a tool for expression, honing your watercolor skill set. Explore various techniques including spraying and splattering. Learn to vary brushstrokes and apply color layers. Subjects include landscape and still life. Limit 8 students

Jeanne Gugino

Jeanne Gugino creates images and objects with paints, pastels, silverpoint, clay and smoke, among other materials. Her work has been shown at Kaji Aso Studio, Prudential Center (Boston) and Newton Open Studios, and in New York Florida, Italy, Japan and the UK.

Jeanne earned her BS in Art Education from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She taught art in New York and Massachusetts public schools and at the Burchfield Penny International Center for Watercolors (Buffalo NY).

After attending Mass College of Art and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, she became a member of Kaji Aso Studio, where she currently serves as trustee, Ceramic Chair and instructor. 

She is a member of the National Association of Women Artists and former President of Newton Art Association.

"Art is a wondrous force with a purpose. It reminds us of who we are and where we came from. It is intense communication between human beings. Perhaps it can show us the way."

If you have supplies please bring them to the class. If you are new to watercolor, the following should offer the best results for beginners from Dick Blick

  • Paper: Fabriano Studio Watercolor or Canson
  • 11x14", 12 sheet pad 140 lb. Cold Press
  • Princeton Golden Taklon set 3 brushes; or watercolor brushes small for detail, # 8 or #10 round and a half inch flat
  • Eldajon Palette
  • Cotman Watercolors by Winsor Newton (Student grade)
  • Alizarin Crimson Hue 8 ml     
  • Cadmium Red Hue 8 ml
  • Cadmium Yellow Hue 8 ml
  • Cerulean Blue Hue 8 ml
  • Cobalt Blue Hue 8 ml
  • Hookers Green Light 8 ml
  • Permanent Rose 8 ml
  • Ultramarine Blue 8 ml
  • Artists tape-white or blue ¾ “
