Wood Turning Week: Bowls & Beyond - 1M22

Age Group:
Teens (17+), Adults

Take a full week in our wood shop and rise to a new level of skill, no matter your starting point.  Turn wood into functional objects and art—bowls, platters, sculptures and more. If you wish, add surface decoration with color, burning and other techniques. All levels welcome. Limit 8 students.

I took this class because I wanted to work with Ken again to improve my turning skills, to be a safer and more efficient woodturner, and to be able to maintain the tools I use at the Eliot School properly.  I really enjoy learning from Ken, being able to pick his brain and getting advice on improving.   Ken is, without a shadow of a doubt, an extremely qualified teacher!  I'll be taking more classes with Ken when they are offered.

He sells his turned bowls and other works of wood art throughout New England. He has won sculpture awards at North River Arts Society Festival of the Arts and Bridgton Maine’s Art in the Park. His professional career was as a chemical engineer.

“My pieces are all handcrafted to show the beauty that results when people and nature are in harmony. Teaching is a way for me to ‘pay it backwards,’ to do for students what my teachers did for me when I was a student.”
