Intermediate Woodworking: Small Table 1W20

Create a customizable Shaker table from ash wood. Choose your own dimensions for an end table, coffee table or another small table. Learn how to adapt the dimensions of a basic design. Then, join boards for your tabletop using a biscuit jointer, cut tapered legs and use a mortising machine for mortise and tenon joinery. Prerequisite: Basic Woodworking. Limit 6 students. 

Good for students who have completed Basic Woodworking: Box, but want the next step before going to Woodworking Open Shop.

Julio Fuentes

Julio Fuentes designs and creates laminated jewelry and other fine objects out of wood and other materials. The beer taps he designed and created are in use at Turtle Swamp Brewing in Jamaica Plain.

Julio also leads home improvement workshops for North Bennet Street School in conjunction with Boston’s Dept. of Neighborhood Development. For 15 years, he worked as Construction Supervisor at The Classic Group (Burlington, MA), a design-build firm focusing on high-end construction and remodeling. He now manages projects for Adams + Beasley Associates, Custom Builders. He has has been Scoutmaster and Cub Scout Den Leader in West Roxbury since 2004.

He is a graduate of the Preservation Carpentry Program at North Bennet Street School.
