Knitting for Beginners 2W25
In this beginner course, students will learn how cast on, knit, purl, and develop a good tension. Students will start with a simple scarf to practice the basic knitting skills. As students progress, they may explore circular knitting as well. Students will walk away with a project such as a scarf, hat, or coaster. Take your skills home and create amazing gifts for loved ones or add a cozy hand made item to your wardrobe!

Lygia Angel
My name is Lygia Angel I have a degree in art education. My experience in teaching art over the last thirty years has been teaching art to a diverse array of populations. I have taught from early childhood, elementary, adolescent, adults and elderly populations. I teach people with all abilities and disabilities in inclusive settings. I am a specialist in working with people with memory impairment through the arts.
In my education I have a specialty in hand built sculptural ceramics. I have won several awards for my work. Clay is an exciting medium to work with. For me it is like working with natural elements from nature ; the earth. Anyone can learn how to work with clay it’s a forgiving, pliable, moldable and exciting.
I also teach knitting classes to all ages. Knitting is a wonderful skill to have. I find it meditative. Knitting is great for focus and dexterity. And working with yarns, fibers, and the different colors is creative and fulfilling.
Knitting needles (size 7 or appropriate for your yarn) and worsted weight yarn.
