Life Drawing 1F24
Want to develop your drawing skills?
In this 2-hour-long life drawing class, you'll draw from a live, nude figure model at your own pace. Sessions are overseen by a professional artist who can help answer questions and/or provide critique. However, no formal instruction is provided in this class.
You are responsible for bringing your own drawing implements (pencils, conté, vine charcoal, or pens if you prefer!) and paper. We'll provide the art-boards, easels, and tables.
We invite varied body-types and genders to model and encourage dynamic poses each week so you can truly explore the human form.
All experience levels welcome. Open to adults 18+ or youth with permission of parent or guardian.
Sessions take place every Tuesday evening. Registration is required. Attendance at all sessions not required.
Select the number of sessions desired to attend this term. Tuition is based on the number of sessions selected.
As a stay-at-home mom, I was looking for a way to get out of the house and channel my creativity. I used to draw and paint back in college so the relaxed atmosphere was nice. I love coming in and just drawing. No pressure, no instruction. Students come, set up, and do their own thing. This open studio feel was just was I was looking for in a class and Juan and Paul are very welcoming. I look forward to my Tuesday nights!
Paul Tomkavage
Paul has been drawing people for over 20 years. First, his focus was mostly portraits, at Brookline Adult Education. Since 2010 he has focused on the figure at the Eliot School. He also paints. Interests include perspective, and imagined and real landscapes. Paul recently retired from a long career in environmental engineering. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees.
Juan Perez
Juan Perez has been creating his art for many years, using a variety of mediums, including pen and ink drawings, watercolor, oils, and pastels. He draws his inspiration from Boston city life, architecture, landscape, and childhood memories of his native Dominican Republic. He teaches figure drawing.
He attended the Arts Students League in New York, and graduated from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston in 1973. He has been featured in numerous exhibitions over his career, his favorite being his solo “Hats on For Walter” at the Boston Brewery Complex in 2013. His work has also been published in the Boston Herald, The Boston Globe, and El Mundo.
