Basic Sewing 2W24
If you need to learn how to use a sewing machine for the first time, Basic Sewing is for you.
Learn how to operate a sewing machine, learn basic sewing terms, sewing methods and tools of the trades in order to choose, read and understand patterns.
Then apply your newly found skills by sewing accessories (pillow, tote bag...) and if you feel ready, your first garment!
Completion qualifies students for intermediate classes and open workshop classes. We will review where to buy supplies in class.
Limit 6 students
**PLEASE NOTE: Enrolled students must not miss more than one consecutive class or they will not be able to progress in the course.**
I registered for this class because I wanted to learn how to sew. The atmosphere was very cozy, we had great classmates and a PHENOMENAL TEACHER!!! I definitely will go to the next level (Intermeidate Sewing) with Elodie.
Elodie Bordry
Elodie Bordry is a French artisan, always interested in learning and sharing new techniques.
Having designed jewels and accessories for 7 years, she used to sell her creations at designer markets in the Greater Paris; she also learned to sew on her own.
In 2020, after taking part in a volunteer workshop to sew over 6,000 medical scrubs for a French hospital, she decided to take a CAP, a French professional sewing diploma, which she passed in 2021, a few days before moving to the United States.
Sewing, knitting and jewelry design are her 3 favorite creative fields.
Elodie is originally graduated in Law, she holds a BA in Human Resources from Paris.
She leads a French conversation group for non-native speakers at the Belmont Public Library, used to volunteer for an annual cancer research fundraiser and also supports animal rights campaigns.
