Painting with Oil & Cold Wax 1S24
Students will use a limited oil palette mixed with cold wax and try different application methods with a focus on landscapes. Additionally using oil sticks as well as a variety of mark making tools to enhance color, texture and composition will be explored. There are similarities to print making and using a brayer will be one of the paint application methods. We will work on either oil paper or boards and surface preparation will be taught including using an acrylic underpainting, collage, or working over old paintings. Come with an attitude of play and exploration and leave with landscape paintings that you want to live with.
Having some experience with oil paints is recommended but not essential.

"I enjoy exploring the elegance and form in everyday objects and am particularly attracted to the natural world. My aim is to reveal the hidden beauty of the commonplace while focusing on the dimensions of color and light in oil and watercolor. More recently I have been exploring oil, cold wax, and pigment sticks on paper and boards. This has led to a new focus on landscapes and abstractions."
