Wood-Turning Fundamentals 1W23

Teens (17+), Adults

Learn the fundamentals of wood-turning.  Students will learn both "spindle" and "bowl" turning techniques, using the lathe to contour wood.  The instructor will demonstrate how to use tools and machines effectively to form designs.  Students will create their own custom, wood-turned pieces.

*No class on February 10th, March 10th

I registered for this class because I wanted to learn this new skill.  There was a good combination of instruction and time to practice and figure things out through experience. Jared is an exceptional instructor!

Jared Abner

Jared Abner is a 2021 graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology’s furniture design program where he earned a BFA in Sculpture. While at RIT, Jared was introduced to the imaginative furniture and sculpture of his professor, Andy Buck. Buck’s work inspired Jared to play and explore the medium of wood and the contingencies of his tools. Jared continues this exploration in his Boston-based studio.
