Intermediate Weaving: Hearth Basket 1W27
Originally designed to sit beside a hearth and hold wood, this unique basket has many uses. It works great for harvesting your garden, in a guest room holding towels/toiletries, or even in the kitchen. Beads can be added or not. If beads are incorporate the student will pick from a variety of colors and materials. Basket measures, 10” x 14” with a 14” handle.
Student will work with rattan and apply both basic and wicker weaving skills. Student will create a functional basket upon completion.
Please note this is a two-session class. The first session is 2-6 PM, the second session is 2-5 PM.
This is an intermediate class, students should have experience with rattan weaving and understanding of the basic basket structure before attending.
This class does not have a make up date.
William Krier
Born and raised among the Amish community in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, William Krier developed an interest in the art of basket weaving and has been practicing this art since the 1980's. He enjoys the challenge that wicker basketry brings. Using a variety of agents from commercial dyes to nut hull stain to teas, William dyes and stains all of his own reed.
Weaving traditional baskets using bright colors is William's way of contemporizing the art of basket making.
All materials provided in class. $40 material fee payable to the instructor during class. This instructor accepts cash, Venmo, and checks.
