Eliot School to host JP Porchfest, 2022!

Find a Class

The Eliot School of Fine & Applied Arts is happy to join several esteemed local non-profit organizations in partnership with Dunamis to produce JP Porchfest 2022!

JP Porchfest is an opportunity for a variety of musicians, vocalists, choral groups, bands, and ensembles to share their music with the public.  Performances take place on porches, in parks, in driveways, and on front lawns all over Jamaica Plain, and passers-by can enjoy all of them—free of charge.

This year, JP Porchfest will feature "Community Hour" from 3-4 PM.  Musical performances will pause for an hour to make way for interactive creative activities at the festival's hub-sites, at the Eliot School of Fine & Applied Arts and Loring-Greenough House.

The Eliot School of Fine & Applied Arts will offer several visual art-making activities on the Schoolhouse grounds, all free-of-charge for participants.  Quontay Turner (Emerald City Plant Shop) will lead visitors to the Blue Canopy in creating succulent gardens.  Samantha Rivas (Modern Party Art) will create decorative door-hangers in the School's Red Canopy, and Verónica Ramírez Martell will lead visitors in creating miniature macramé plant hangers.

Interested visitors can register for any of Verónica's upcoming macrame workshops at the Eliot School, including Intermediate Macramé and Family Macramé for children/their guardians.

For visitors who want to make music themselves, The Eliot Schoolyard will also host Neo Gcabo during Community Hour, to lead participants in circle-singing.

JP Porchfest will occur on Saturday, August 20th, from 12-6 PM.  Visitors can join in for Community Hour at the Eliot School of Fine & Applied Arts Schoolyard from 3-4 PM.
