Spaces of Belonging: Artist Talk & Opening Reception

We held the opening reception for our 2022 Artist in Residence exhibition, Spaces of Belonging, on August 5th. This event was the culmination of our annual Artist in Residence (AIR) program, which brings Boston-based artists together with teen artists from our youth programs and partnerships for an intense period of collaboration and art-making. At the opening, friends, family, and community members gathered to admire the paintings that teen AIR Fellows made throughout the summer and to hear our artists talk about their experiences. During the artist talk, Artists in Residence Go Five and Take One and our teen Artist in Residence Fellows spoke passionately about the process of creating their work. Their determination and growth shone through as they shared stories of learning new techniques and stepping outside of their comfort zones to create their artwork.

The 2022 Artist in Residence exhibition will be on view at Piano Craft Gallery through August 28th, 2022. Visit Piano Craft Gallery’s website for information about the gallery’s open hours. This summer our Artist in Residence Fellows also supported our AIRs with the creation of a striking mural at The English High School in Jamaica Plain, which will be visible year-round on the Washington Street side of the school building. We’d be honored if you took the time to see these artists’ amazing work!

If you or a young artist you know is interested in opportunities for teen artists at The Eliot School, you can find more information about our Teen Bridge program on our website. Teen Bridge applications will open in the fall. You can reach out to Camila Bohan Insaurralde at for more information about the Teen Bridge program & application process.
