Wood Turning: Boxes, Bowls & Beyond 1F26

Discover the techniques used to create custom wooden boxes, bowls, and other turned forms in this hands-on woodturning workshop. In this two-day class, students will explore methods for turning both functional and decorative objects while building confidence with shaping, hollowing, proportion, and surface refinement.
Experienced woodturners can expand their repertoire through more advanced projects and individualized instruction, while beginners will learn foundational lathe techniques as they create simple bowls and vessels.
Starting with pieces of tree limbs and trunks, students will learn how to safely prepare stock, turn it round, and shape it into finished projects. Wood will be provided in class. Advanced turners are welcome to bring their own material. No physical strength or previous woodworking experience is required.
Proper safety gear (including wearing a visor to protect the face) while turning is required.

Ken Lindgren
Ken Lindgren makes functional and abstract objects from trees that have fallen due to death, disease, storm or construction. A member of the American Association of Woodturners, he has taught wood turning at Fuller Craft Museum, the New England Woodturning Symposium and elsewhere. He sells his turned bowls and other works of wood art throughout New England. He has won sculpture awards at North River Arts Society Festival of the Arts and Bridgton Maine’s Art in the Park. His professional career was as a chemical engineer.
