Stina Hals

Stina Hals is an interdisciplinary artist, from Jamaica Plain, combining the immediacy of drawing with the tactile processes of printmaking. Her drawing practice includes sketchbooks, life drawing, portrait drawing, and experimentation with diverse mediums. She carries a sketchbook with her much of the time, to make quick drawings on the subway, on the bus, on vacations, in museums - or wherever life takes her. Drawings inform her printmaking, and her prints are found in local exhibitions, in New England and in California, and in private collections. Stina first learned drawing and printmaking at the University of California Santa Cruz and, later, in coursework at Mass College of Art and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts.
Stina is a member of the Full Tilt Cooperative Printmaking Studio in Dedham. In addition to art making, Stina has a 25+ year long career as a public health and non-profit community development professional, designing support programs for people living with HIV/AIDS and drug addiction and evaluating homelessness response systems.
