Sketchbook Crash Course 1W27

Age Group:
Adults

Do you want to make art but struggle to find the time, motivation, or direction to get started? Or maybe you already consider yourself an artist but have trouble getting to the studio consistently. Wherever you are in your creative practice, a sketchbook can be a powerful tool for building momentum, exploring ideas, and making creativity a regular part of your life.

In this class, you’ll use your sketchbook to identify the roadblocks that get in the way of making art and develop practical strategies for moving past them. Through prompts, exercises, and guided exploration, you’ll fill your sketchbook with ideas while discovering ways to make time for your art and build a sustainable creative practice.

You’ll leave with a sketchbook full of inspiration, along with personal strategies and goals to help you keep making, exploring, and growing beyond the class. Beginners and experienced artists alike are welcome.

Make Up Session: 3/6/27

Materials to bring to class:

Students should bring the following materials to the workshop:

  • Spiral bound sketchbook that is easy to take with you (fits in your purse, your work bag, your coat pocket, whichever works for you)
  • A pencil case (also should be easy to bring with you in whatever bag you generally carry)
  • Drawing materials: pencils, pens, markers (nice to have a wide variety of type and color: sharpies, highlighters, ball point, etc.) - these can be things you find around your house, but if you want to buy new supplies here are a few things I would recommend: Pentel Brush Pen, China Markers, Drawing Pencils
  • A Small Ruler
  • Scissors (ideally comfy to use, but fit in your pencil case)
  • Glue stick or small glue bottle

If you have supplies you like and want to bring to the workshop but are not on this list (i.e. watercolor, pastel, artist markers, colored pencils) please do!
