April Vacation (Ages 6-8): Fiber Arts & Mixed Media 1W26
Our April Vacation Program offers instruction in four media: visual arts, mixed media, fiber arts, and woodworking. Students can enroll in one of two tracks: A. woodworking and visual arts OR B. mixed media and fiber arts. This is the class page for B: mixed media and fiber arts. Each class will be capped at 12 students to allow for individual attention. We only offer full-day programming during April Vacation week. Instruction takes place inside the Eliot Schoolhouse. Play, snack, and lunch time will take place in either the Schoolyard or, during inclement weather, the Schoolhouse.
Fiber Arts (Morning Instruction)
For students that want to learn or build upon sewing basics. Students sew by hand and machine, cut patterns, and develop their own personal sewing kit. They will begin by sewing bags, pillows, and simple clothing. As they gain more experience and skill, more complex projects follow. Students will love making things for themselves and their loved ones!
Mixed Media (Afternoon Instruction)
A multi-media class for kids who love art and want to have fun! Students will explore a variety of approaches, mediums, and techniques. They’ll learn the basics of composition, pattern, line, texture, scale, color, shading, and contrast through projects inspired by imagination and observation. Media may include sculpture, wearable art, mosaic, acrylic, collage, pastel, print making, and comics.
Lindsey Caputo
Lindsey Caputo is an everywhere based artist. She graduated from Massachusetts College of Art and Design with a BFA in Art Education. During her time at Massart, she volunteered in several Boston Public Schools while earning an initial teaching license in K-12 Visual Arts education. Caputo received an MFA in Studio Art at Maryland Institute College of Art with a Certificate for College Teaching. Since then, she has been expanding her studio practice by engaging in her interest in “the weird” and the Avant Garde. In 2022, she became an Adjunct Faculty member in the Arts and Humanities Pathway at Tidewater Community College where she taught Art Appreciation, 2D Design, and Foundations of Drawing.

Nami Yamaguchi
Nami Yamaguchi is a Boston based artist and student at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Nami works primarily with fibers and mixed or found media, often textiles and metals. When not weaving or painting fabrics, Nami likes to make natural inks and dyes in her spare time, often trading them with other local artists for supplies or art.
