Drawing From Bargue 1F26

Age Group:
Adults

Learn to see light, shadow, and form through a contemporary take on a time-honored drawing method used to train generations of artists.

Inspired by the 19th-century Charles Bargue drawing course, this class introduces a slower, more focused approach to observational drawing rooted in historical atelier practices. Working from reproductions of antique sculpture, students will practice seeing proportion, shape, light, and shadow more clearly while building confidence through sustained drawing exercises.

Rather than focusing on quick sketches or a wide range of subjects, this class emphasizes careful looking and gradual skill-building in a supportive environment. Students will explore value, form, light and shadow, and approachable alternatives to the traditional sight-size method.

Limited to 8 students. Well suited for beginners and experienced artists alike, this class offers an opportunity to strengthen foundational drawing skills while developing greater accuracy, patience, and sensitivity in observation.

MAKE UP: 12/2
