Handsewn Artist's Books 1W25

Age Group:
Adults

Hand-bound books create unique formats for presenting photography, prints, mixed media artworks, and more. In this class students will learn techniques for both softbound and hardbound versions of this flexible book structure. We'll begin with the basics of book arts and the single section or "signature", and then we'll expand the idea to multiple signatures like the "Dos Equis" binding. Its name comes from the 2-needle stitching that crosses back and forth between the signatures of the book interior. Beyond the act of binding, stitching can be a wonderful tool for connecting collage materials, as well as mark-making to add dimension and conceptual possibilities to your artworks.

All materials provided. Open to everyone ages 18 & up, all skill levels, artists, non-artists, and you folks that are curious.

No make up date.
