Matchbox Art Workshop 1M26

Make miniature masterpieces with matchboxes. Students will learn basic design and collage skills using matchboxes, an assortment of decorative papers, vintage paper ephemera and assorted embellishments.

Students will have the opportunity to make several matchbox art pieces inspired by contemporary matchbox artists and sample matchboxes from the instructor. Matchbox art is a great creative project for all skill levels. Experiment with the medium in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere!

Amy can usually be found in second hand-shops collecting. She loves vintage bisque doll parts, sewing notions, old photos of strangers and rusty nails.

Along the way her assemblages and collages have been shown in various open studio events, businesses, museums and galleries in Greater Boston.

Amy studied anthropology and art history in college and has a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree from Harvard University Extension School. She has taught at the Eliot School since 2009, and finds great joy showing others the ins and outs of mixed media art.

Materials to bring to class:

Class provides matchboxes, glues, assorted decorative papers, vintage ephemera, and embellishments. Students are welcome to bring any extra materials they wish to work with. Students should also bring small scissors.
