Wood Turning Intensive: Boxes, Bowls, and Knobs
Come learn the ease and joy of woodturning—three forms, four days!
Spend four days immersed in woodturning as you explore three essential forms—bowls, lidded boxes, and custom knobs. Guided by an experienced instructor who typically teaches these subjects separately, students will build strong lathe fundamentals while advancing their skills in shaping, hollowing, lid fitting and repetition work.
Making a bowl or two in the first two days will give you all the skill sets needed to make other shapes—such as plates, boxes, vases, candle sticks, and knobs—in the last two days. Finishes will be applied outside of class, but the instructor will cover finishing options and techniques during the workshop.
This intensive format allows for deeper focus, continuity of practice, and meaningful skill development. Students will get lots of one-on-one instruction and leave with finished pieces, a stronger command of the lathe, and the confidence to continue exploring woodturning independently. Many students find woodturning a meditative experience, easier to do than they thought.
All materials and safety equipment are provided. All levels are welcome. Prior experience is helpful, but not required.

Ken Lindgren
Ken Lindgren makes functional and abstract objects from trees that have fallen due to death, disease, storm or construction. A member of the American Association of Woodturners, he has taught wood turning at Fuller Craft Museum, the New England Woodturning Symposium and elsewhere. He sells his turned bowls and other works of wood art throughout New England. He has won sculpture awards at North River Arts Society Festival of the Arts and Bridgton Maine’s Art in the Park. His professional career was as a chemical engineer.
