In this beginner course, students will learn how cast on, knit, purl, and develop a good tension. Students will start with a simple scarf to practice the basic knitting skills. 

Explore the expressive possibilities of watercolor through bold brushwork, color, and spontaneous mark-making in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment.

Bring dull chisels and plane irons back to life while learning the essential sharpening and tuning skills every hand-tool woodworker needs.

Create elegant handmade books using traditional Japanese stab-binding techniques, including the classic 4-hole stitch and decorative variations.

Experience painting with the medium of gouache (opaque watercolor). Working from an image you choose, we will attempt to capture “place,” by playing with composition and color palette.  Composition will be determined through thumbnail sketches, and paint will be applied on stable panels that allow for painting with multiple layers. Students will leave with a small gouache painting on an Aquabord panel.

Please note that this workshop does not have a make up date.

Go beyond basics with zippers and get started with a garment of your choice. Adjust a pattern for your size; choose and cut fabric expertly. Take this class as many times as you like to solidify your essential sewing skills and complete a series of projects. Students will go home with samples of closures etc that were made in class. This class uses Janome Model 731 sewing machines. 

We'll discuss where to purchase supplies during class.

Join this weaving class available to all skill levels! In this class, you'll learn how to make a handmade tapestry and gain the knowledge to continue with your new craft.

Loosen up your watercolor practice through playful exercises, expressive brushwork, and fresh approaches to color and composition.

Learn basic quilting techniques and then expand into areas where the quilt becomes art, exploring what makes good design, shape and color composition, and finally touching on surface elements and dimensionality.  You'll use scraps of favorite fabrics to design and sew a quilt.  By the final class, you'll be equipped with new ideas, techniques and inspiration to continue your own work.

Design and build a handcrafted cherry wood bench with a custom sewn cushion while exploring the creative relationship between woodworking and sewing.

For kids that want to learn or build upon the basics of woodworking. Students will build projects in wood with hand tools and techniques in an environment that emphasizes creativity and safety. As they gain experience and skill, students will undertake larger and more complex projects, gaining appreciation for wood as a creative medium.
